Hotel Auberge de Grand Popo

Location
The hotel is located in Grand Popo beside the sea midway between Cotonou (80km) and Lome (Togo, 70 km), and has air-conditioned rooms.

The ocean is right infront of the Auberge, about 40 meters from the bar terrace and the river Mono runs behind. The estuary of the Mono is approximately 5Km from the Auberge but can only be reached by driving over the beach in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Coconut palms dominate the environment.

Amenities & Services
The garden bedroom block (12 rooms). The commander's bedroom block on the beachfront (8 rooms). Two bungalows. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with toilet, shower and wash-hand basin. All rooms have ceiling fans and are fitted with mosquito netting on the windows.

One 60m sq. fresh water swimming pool. It is approximately 1 meter at the deepest end so that children can safely swim and not go into the dangerous ocean. A paddling pool for the smaller children is alongside the swimming pool.

On the beach, close to the sea we have constructed small “paillotes” where guests can lay out on the sand, in the shade of their own thatched roofs shelters.

The Auberge is located in a large open ‘park' without boundary walls. The beach and sea are on one side and a laterite track/ road on the other. The vegetation includes, bougainvilleas, banana trees, coconut palms, etc.

Dining
One restaurant with a terrace overlooking the beach. One large thatched roofed building where groups can dine or hold meetings etc.

The cuisine is essentially french with some beninese specialties. We try to maximize the use of local ingredients (fish, shellfish, fruits…) Barbecued Barracuda is a speciality.
